Natural Dyeing Class | Lac & Quebracho Yellow

Paradise Fibers

(Pictures from previous classes)

Join us for another fun natural dye class with Justin! In this class we'll be using Lac and Quebracho Yellow.

Lac is an insect derived dye that produces crimsons to burgundy reds to deep purples. The colors are similar to those from cochineal but warmer, softer, and more muted. You can choose to add soda ash for a plum purple, or iron for a blackened purple.

Quebracho Yellow is a tree with a concentrated tannin content in the dense wood. The dye from it can vary in colors from coral, warm red-brown, yellow or green.

Supplies Included:

  • Class fee includes all natural dye supplies, Because these are premium dye materials, their cost is incorporated into the class price.
  • Personal protection equipment

Supplies needed:

  • 2 skeins of undyed protein or cellulose yarn- one for each color. You can also bring a scarf or cloth to dye!

We carry a great selection of undyed yarn in store and are happy to help you choose the perfect base.
